In just over a week, many people will be celebrating their graduation - here are some tips on how to host a successful party in an apartment or townhouse without straining relationships with your neighbors!
Inform your neighbors in advance:
Put up a note in the stairwell or send a message letting them know you’ll be celebrating, and indicate roughly how long the party will last.
Check the house rules:
Remember that disturbing noise should be avoided after 10:00 PM.
Even if it’s a Friday or Saturday night, your neighbors have the right to a good night’s sleep.
Keep the noise under control:
Background music is better than loud party music.
Avoid heavy bass – deep bass sounds and vibrations tend to disturb neighbors the most. Place speakers away from walls and floors.
Be mindful of shared spaces:
Ask guests not to run in the stairwell and avoid loud conversations outside the door.
Neighbors are generally more disturbed by an uncontrolled party than by the party itself. You are also responsible for your guests’ behavior.
